THE GOOD OLD DAYS Think back to February of this year… When you popped in to your favorite store to pick up something for dinner… Perhaps a favorite snack, a loaf of fresh bread, a bottle of wine… Could you imagine if, back in February, you were accosted by a store clerk, aggressively demanding you to leave the store… Threatening to call the cops on you because you — Heaven forbid! — wanted to BUY FOOD FOR YOUR FAMILY?! The astounding contrast between Feb and Oct is actually stomach-turning. Back in February, the only things I heard from store clerks were things like.. “How’s your day going?” “Can I help you find something?” “Did you find everything you were looking for?” Yes, I am near tears as I write this. I want to KEEP THE OUTRAGE alive. I NEVER want to grow used to this atrocious, horrid, abusive, demeaning and utterly ludicrous and absurd behavior of ignorant, oxygen-deprived store clerks who must be suffering brain damage from wearing face suffocation devices all day long. What else could possibly be the reason for “customer service” clerks to turn so vile and nasty? It puts me in mind of that horrible book and movie from many years ago, The Lord of the Flies. How in the world could so many people have become so brain-dead and hateful in so short a time? You are probably shaking your head, as I am, in disbelief. The good news is there is some relief. Learn all about your rights as either a business owner or customer! What exactly does “public accommodation” mean? Is there such a thing as “no shoes, no shirt, no service?” What can you do if you, as a customer, are threatened and harassed? Can the cops actually arrest you for trespassing just because you are in a store without a mask? I can’t tell you how many peaceful, law-abiding people I have counseled in just this past week alone who have been cited for trespassing. Yes… trespassing in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA — just for trying to buy food in the grocery store!! I WILL NOT LET THIS STAND! But I need your help.
