Let me tell you a story of family, food and freedom. This story is important, because many HEALTHY AMERICANS write to me daily asking for help in being served in a restaurant mask-free, without being harassed, humiliated or threatened with trespassing. Has it come to this, in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, that a peaceful, freedom-loving person cannot enjoy a restaurant meal without being subjected to ridiculous restrictions like masks and physical distancing?! That’s where Basilico’s Pasta e Vino Italian restaurant comes in. Before I tell you the story of Basilico’s and why that matters to you and every freedom-loving person, I want to share the outrage I experienced several months ago when all this “lockdown” nonsense started. You probably felt the much the same. You see, as a small business owner myself for over 20 years, I was deeply grieved back in March and governors across the country deemed certain businesses “non-essential”. Non-essential?! EVERY business is essential! And every employee is essential, and every person is essential. Every business is essential to those who own it… to those who work for it … and to those it serves. HOW DARE these tyrants try to strong-arm hard-working business owners into shutting their doors. I will not stand for it! And I know you won’t either. And neither will my friend and restaurant owner, Tony Roman. Tony runs Basilico’s Pasta e Vino, a warm and wonderful neighborhood restaurant in Huntington Beach, CA. Under Tony’s direction, Basilico’s never changed its operations. That means no masks, no distancing, no hand sanitizer, no disposable menus, no limited seating, no restrictions whatsoever. Hubby David and I have had memorable meals there, feeling like part of the family. Tony has other business interests, but dedicated time and resources to build the new Basilico’s location in 2017 for his mother, Rosemarie, after she became seriously ill. Rosemarie had the business at a previous location for 18 years, but Tony wanted to design for her an even nicer restaurant as a tribute to her and love for her customers and community who always supported her! So when the lockdown began and Tony resisted, suddenly freedom and liberty was under attack by the hate that followed, with snitches targeting him and the restaurant. For Tony there was no compromising for him in the defense of freedom, liberty and in protecting his mother’s legacy.
